ddp images übernimmt interTopics

ddp images announced today that it has acquired the marketing rights and digital archive of the interTOPICS internationale Presseagentur GmbH, effective May 1, 2013. The well established brand, based in Hamburg, will remain as an independent company within the agency group. Birgit Kraft, interTOPICS ‘s long standing managing director, will remain as senior sales manager.

interTOPICS was founded in 1979 and is known for unique photography of musicians and celebrities in film and showbiz . Their archive includes 4.5 million images that document the entertainment industry since the 1920s.

Among the outstanding photographers exclusively represented in Germany by interTOPICS are Armando Gallo, Bob Gruen, Brad Trent, William Coupon, Baron Wolman, Lynn Goldsmith or Jirka Jansch. The list of exclusive partner agencies includes such renowned names like MPTV, Photomovie, Celebrity Pictures USA, Shooting Star or Dalle.

Additionally, Eyevine, Globe Photos, Retna and Photoshot provide concert and event photography from the United States and England on a daily basis.

„Customers have appreciated interTOPICS for over 30 years for unique production in the fields of music, film and showbiz. In recent years, this focus is a bit lost,“ said managing director Katharina Doerk. „In the future we will again focus on these strengths and thereby move the exclusivity and quality of the photography in to the foreground.“

Heinz Spickermann, founder of interTOPICS, is pleased „that with ddp images we have found a strong partner and thus an excellent solution for the future of interTOPICS in the highly competitive image market.“

„Once integrated into our group, interTOPICS can rely on our excellent infrastructure and technical resources giving it the time and space necessary for this specialized agency to offer its customers real value through high quality photography and outstanding service. Focusing on this added value along with their own individual strengths and unique features will enable photographers and small agencies to compete in the future despite the ongoing trend of declining image fees „, added ddp images Managing Director Ulf Schmidt-Funke about the acquisition.
