Silke Frigg, Peter Bitzer - laif

Change in management at photo agency laif

Peter Bitzer passes on the baton to Silke Frigge

Starting on August 1, 2020 Silke Frigge (50) will take over management of the photo agency laif. She will succeed Peter Bitzer (65), who is going to enter well-deserved retirement on September 30, 2020 after more than thirty successful years.

Until then, both will lead the agency collaboratively in order to ensure a smooth transition and to set up the agency for the future ahead.

“I want to thank the members of our staff, our photographers, business partners and clients for a great time,“ says Peter Bitzer. “Even if the market presented its challenges at times, working with the wonderful laif photography was always a great source of joy, and I will forever remain connected with laif. But I am also looking forward to spending more time on my other interests. With my successor Silke Frigge I know laif is going to be in very good hands.“

“I have always followed the story of laif with particular interest. Thus I am all the more looking forward to working with all staff members, partners and photographers on the development of new projects and formats for the agency and to strengthen the importance of photography in visual communication.“ says Silke Frigge.

“Peter Bitzer has lead laif to become a leading German photo agency and an internationally renowned brand for photojournalism. Katharina Doerk and I thank him with all our hearts for this outstanding achievement and the continuously constructive and inspirational collaboration,“ says Ulf Schmidt-Funke, CEO of the ddp group. “I am very pleased that he was able to appoint Silke Frigge as his successor. She will contribute competence in the areas of digital communication and content marketing, while relying on her profound experience and wide network of connections within the photo business.“

Until the end of July, Silke Frigge will remain with the health care agency “art tempi communications“ in the position of project manager for campaigns and auditive concepts for health communications. Previsouly, she had worked for ten years as photo editor and photo director for publishing groups like Süddeutsche Zeitung, Handelsblatt, Gruner + Jahr or Bayard Media. She already worked for laif between 2002 and 2007 in photo editing and marketing positions.
